Deeewali
Diwali aka Deepawali aka festival of lights is an ancient festival of Hindu celebrated in autumn every year. It basically signifies spiritual victory of light over darkness. Good over bad. Knowledge over ignorance. Hope over despair. Positivity over negativity. The ritual of this spiritual festival stretch over five long days. But the main night of Deepawali coincides with the darkest and in full moon light according to the Hindi lunisolar month 'kartika'. Which falls midst mid-October and mid-November in accordance to Georgian Calendar.
Cleaning and renovating houses and offices is a ritual done prior festivities begin. The first day begins with a Dhanteras puja/worship of the goddess of money and wealth! Followed by Naraka chaturdasi on the second day. Third and fourth day is celebrated as Diwali padva dedicated to Hubby's and Wifey's along with a ritual dedicated to brothers and sisters on the last day! Even Jains celebrate Festival of Lights on the attainment of Moksha by Mahavira. Sikhs celebrate Bundi Chor Divas and Bohra community also celebrates with 100% enthusiasm.
A festival of light, love, luminosity, peace of mind and body is celebrated all over India with joy and excitement. The houses lit up with diyas, lanterns of various fashion, LED lights of varying colors along the windows etc. Young, old, poor, rich everyone dressed up with their best or new outfits and burn crackers.
People with cracker business earn only in Diwali and at the time of elections. Various type of crackers burst up in every compound, society, lawn, garden etc. 'Fool jhadi', 'Rocket', 'chakdi', 'Rassi bomb' etc are some of the crackers being lit up!
Gifts from your relatives, friends, colleagues Etc Serves as a embellishment to the festival. Exchanging gifts is always been a path to strengthen your relationship with people. No wonder shopping rates go higher by 27% during this season.
