Deeewali

Diwali aka Deepawali aka festival of lights is an ancient festival of Hindu celebrated in autumn every year. It basically signifies spiritual victory of light over darkness. Good over bad. Knowledge over ignorance.  Hope over despair. Positivity over negativity. The ritual of this spiritual festival stretch over five long days. But the main night of Deepawali coincides with the darkest and in full moon light according to the Hindi lunisolar month 'kartika'. Which falls midst mid-October and mid-November in accordance to Georgian Calendar.  Cleaning and renovating houses and offices is a ritual done prior festivities begin. The first day begins with a Dhanteras puja/worship of the goddess of money and wealth! Followed by Naraka chaturdasi on the second day. Third and fourth day is celebrated as Diwali padva dedicated to Hubby's and Wifey's along with a ritual dedicated to brothers and sisters on the last day! Even Jains celebrate Festival of Lights on the attainment o...

The Journey In The Red Bus

The red bus in the title refers to the BEST buses which operates along the nerves of the dream city - Mumbai. It is second major mode of transport for people residing in Mumbai. First on the list is of course, the life line ; Local Trains.  Every time you step into the red bus, you get a new experience. From stepping-in the bus from the gap at the back side, to getting down from the gap in the front. I use the word gap because there are no doors in the bus except for the driver door. BEST is licensed to seat 49 and 20 standees (Spelling of licensed is wrong in the notice hung in the buses). But, there are definitely more standees in a bus in peak hours at hot places. Like, Kurla, Bandra, Churchgate etc. Fares of BEST buses is directly proportional to the number of commuters. As the commuters increases day by day, fares also increases.  The red bus with rivets all around, black handles, green seats, aluminum floorings and chocolaty conductor seems to experience more dram...

Talent in the nerves of India

I believe, people in India are gifted with talent. Talents may be artistic or technical, mental or physical, personal or social. From begging (doing that requires talent too :P) to fixing an airplane engine. From writing accounts to filing income tax files. From fabricating metals to building a tower. Talent, literally leaks out from people here. Every talent beholder don't get a proper platform to express the talent within. Indian Government doesn't do anything to fabricate the talent of Indian students. Instead developed countries like United States Of America, Canada, Australia etc value and appreciate the hidden talent of students. A recent article on Times Of India depicts that about 36% of scientists at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) are Indians. Such a thing of pride for Indians. But if those people of NASA worked for their own nation, we would be more proud. Now, if I talk about my self, I had/have many talents too. Which I could never discove...

Imagination — Bouncing over reality

Imagination is like a deep sea or an open sky or may be it can be beyond that. It can be like a smile of a new born baby through his sleeps. Almost everything they exists around us, is an imagination. The cars, airplanes, wind turbines etc (using these typical machineries because I'm doing mechanical engineering :-P). And even the clouds, trees, mountains are imaginations. Imaginations of God, and they turn into reality by some magic. Okay, what is the other term that comes to our mind when we think of imagination? For me, it is 'reality'. Now, again a question pops up. What basic difference does reality and imagination have? Contemplating on it and I realized reality has limits and imagination doesn't . If you imagine something, it is not necessary that people will imagine in the same way. What others think might be exactly opposite to what you think. Now comes reality into play. It is limited. Imagining blowing up something doesn't really blow up that thing. Yo...

The Deonar Trip!

Once in every year, almost everyone in Mumbai visits Deonar. The "Bakra Mandi". Biggest,  enormous, vast goat market. Goats ranging (in age) from one day to seven years are sold here, of all varieties, colors, shades, sizes. Around 20 million goats arrive each year for the pure festival of Muslims; Eid-Ul-Adha. On this day, muslims sacrifice an animal for Allah. Ample amount of goats are being sold and bought here.  So today, I got an opportunity to visit this huge market. To buy goats of course. I had never seen such a big market ever in my life. Full of goats and people to buy them. It has got several sheds for goats and buffaloes. There is an added feature too. The Slaughter Houses. Which are equipped with latest machineries and up to date technology! The bad part about Deonar is that it is never tidy. It never smells good. No matter where you go. It stinks, it is untidy, sewage on path ways etc etc. And of course, you have to be vigilant about the fencing of different ...

Engineer's Day

15th September, 2014 Engineer's Day. Midst of September, accurate, everyone who has some relation with engineering celebrates Engineer's Day in India. To be honest, till date, I never knew why we celebrate and on what occasion! Thanks to our Director sir who gave us a brief introduction to this day and the person behind the scenes. THE QUALITY PERSON,THE BEST ENGINEER, THE MOST HUMBLE,THE BEST DRESSED, A BHARAT RATNA WINNER, one and only Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. He is held in high regard as a pre-eminent engineer of India. This was about Engineer's day. What did we actually do to celebrate it? We had organized a Robot championship in college named RoboChamps'14. I was a part of designing team and RoboSoccer team. Handling two things at same time was big challenge, but came up with both of them on time Alhamdulillah. That boosted my self confidence. I proved my self that I can do multiple work at same time and in a given time constraint. How much more do ...

Yawn-Al-Watani

A county so holy in itself. A country so pure. A country so open. A country which revolves around the Islamic shariah. A country with two the holiest places of Islam. A country with extreme weather fluctuations. A country that provides cheap oil. A country symbolic of peace. I am talking about none other than my own kingdom of Saudi Arabia. My beloved nation, where I grew up. It made me what I'm today. The country gives you all the luxuries of life irrespective of your financial status. It gives you the pleasure experiencing the utmost tranquility by performing umrah as well as hajj. It offers a great opportunities to greet the Prophet Muhammad SAWS. It gives you the delight of driving car at above 240KM/HR. For me, that is heaven and will always be. Saudi Culture; It is the thing which differentiates Saudi Arabia from the rest of the countries across the globe. Firstly, it strongly follows shariah, i.e. Islamic law. It has never seen women without the black cloth covering t...

Thanking the divine being.

19th September, 2014 Alhamdulillah!  So many little things around you plays important role in your life. You never realize until and unless it is messed up or taken away. Spare a moment and thank almighty Allah for whatever big or small he has given without which our life would be horrendous.  One of those indispensable thing which matters to everyone is your eyes. Which when put in a camera, it would take pictures with resolution of more than 576 megapixels. It's huge! SubhanAllah!  How some not so big disease can make a havoc in your life. The previous day, I was infected with this air borne disease called conjunctivitis.  Initially at around  2:15PM  I thought it was some minute particle in the eye. But couldn't find anything. Then after few hours my right eye swelled with redness all over. As time lapsed, my eye lid got over on my eye ball. It never happened to me prior to this. I got my head upside down. My friends told me it i...
